top 10s
long day is over...finally...
history - done
CS112 report - done
french 3 LT - done
i want this sem to be done, too!
anyway, I consider making a top 10 list of books a break...I'm really a bookaholic now
which has its own benefits.
For one, I read interesting stories, I can't really put down the book.
2, It keeps me from thinking a lot of things.
3, My brain's not idle, instead of sleeping and doing nothing.. I call it a positive procrastination. wehe!
4, There's a movie inside my head.
My top 10 books, starting from the time I remember reading.
[I started on Marvel comics 'coz my Kuya Jerome used to show us his delicate collection of Superman, Batman and all sorts of comics. Hmmm...actually, my mom said my Kuya and I read newspapers first before books....really.
I remember, back then a thin comic was only P25. I didn't really read the story, I think, I was after the graphics. Then, came Archie.]
1. The Mennyms - Sylvia Waugh (read this in grade 4 or 5)
Wow, I'm on my way to NBS Katipunan to check out the other 4 Mennyms books
2. Pinocchio - Carlo Collodi
3. The Egypt Game - Zilpha Keatley Snyder
4. The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
5. Kiss the Girls - James Patterson
6. David Copperfield - Charles Dickens
7. War of the Worlds - H.G. Wells
8. Archie Comics Digests (my favorite is Jughead's) - Craig Boldman and Henry Scarpelli
9. Monkey Island - Paula Fox
10. Robinson Crusoe - Daniel Defoe
Top 5 authors
1. James Patterson
2. Dan Brown
3. Sylvia Waugh
4. Charles Dickens
5. Sidney Sheldon

I have to make myself get my hands off the enticing books piling up on the corner of my cabinet. funny how, I describe the books, as if they call to me to read them. Over na. I'm a bookaholic. I finished 4 novels in 2 weeks! weh! I just finished Along came a spider. i'd probably rest from these Patterson thrillers, I want to read a romantic and light read for once.

Hershey's
10 minutes to V. Mars.
Still looking at the Hershey’s moist choco drink on my bed, wond’ring how it’ll taste, coz I forgot how it tasted before, probably, when I started drinking all milk. First Nido. I started drinking milk when I had trouble sleeping in high school. Doctor said warm milk can make you sleep faster. And I learned in Psych 101, it raises serotonin levels which is the hormone resp. for sleep. Nido is sweet. But I like Nestle fresh milk better. I hate non-fat, though, which I tried once coz my mom bought me one. Now, I’ve been experimenting since NestlĂ©’s been out of stock lately. I tried Alaska ---- too sweet. Magnolia, good! It can be a substitute. And recently, I like to taste again choco milks. Moo, Magnolia, … and Hershey’s... Home alone again…Sweet.
Pause. Veronica Mars is on…
And off…Hershey’s ---- too chocolatey! And on…and off…
Ok. I’ve done quite a lot of reading these days. I finished Morning, noon and night by S.Sheldon last Wednesday just before the big game.
It was about Harry Stanford, a business tycoon who mistreated his children and when he tried to change his will, his gay son ordered to kill him. There were a lot of twists. Julia Stanford shows up, a 4th child unknown to them. In the end, they inherited debts of their tycoon father and so ended up penniless and Tyler was caught for murders and an attempted murder of his half sister. There was a love story, too. The detective here was Steve Sloane. It was a light read and a funny story. Imagine, the heirs going through so much trouble just because they were the sons and daughters of the big man Harry ---- in the end, FOR NOTHING.
Got hold of more books at the library yesterday. I settled with Good Benito by Alan Lightman. I was supposed to read Einstein’s Dreams, but it was out. I finished it earlier this afternoon. Bennett was a theoretical physicist who was so obsessed with logic and math. He convinced himself that everything in the world can be represented with equations, but in his quest for that significant number, he ends up finding what the world really is. The story ends abruptly, and leaves it up to the reader what this novel really means.
I agree the world is not a mere mathematics game. Reality is love, anger, betrayal, trust and all the wonderful feelings and shit. Which reminds me of a saying taught by my lit tutor. When it all comes down to it, we all just want to be loved. Precisely.
All 3 novels include french phrases and glad I took french or these words would be alien to me. Kiss the girls had some french I don’t remember anymore and spanish, Mi casa su casa. Morning, noon and night, more french phrases, bonjour, Est-ce je puisse vous aider? Something like that. Of course, I understood. And lastly, Good Benito. There was also a French character, there, Stuart. C’est vrai. Exactement.
And now, I’m reading the first few chapters of Along came a spider, the first of the Alex Cross series. It has french, too. It’s so amazing why good books squeeze in french phrases ---- to add class? Au revoir, mon professeur.Moi.Moi.
Now, I want to ask a literature teacher or Creative writing students why books nowadays always include french somehow.

lotsa...lotsastuff
there's really so many things I want to write about, but i'll start with ...
french 3, that's why I really didn't want Ms. to do the orals. hate it. My francais trois blockmate just told me, in her french 1 class, she implicitly criticized our french 3 skills, if we do have those...Yes, we really sucked to hell. One thing I hate is that I should have studied for my orals. and I shouldn't have put the blame on Madame, In short, I should have self-studied.
[makes me think na I shouldn't have quit the bb club, para I could talk to Fanny more often]
Ensuite, I'm feeling kinda paranoid about basketball issues, sad at that. I just feel some people still keep assuming which I presuppose as not true. or paranoid lang talaga ko?
now, i promised a trivia.
trivia 1
whose smoke-air, smoke&air? moi, bien sur. secret na haha.

see...I'm in love
I'll have my own soon. plus top ten books...
top ten authors by elephants69food top ten authors link
1) Martina Cole.
This woman is amazing. The way Martina Cole is able to get into her books with such passion and gritty realism is totally amazing. I think I have read every single book Martina Cole has ever written and I have enjoyed everyone as much as the last. All her books are about the London underworld scene and the way she is able to write with such information and in such a realistic way is truly wonderful. You are dragged into each book with true force and unable to out it down until the end.
10/10 for Martina Cole.
2) James Patterson.
This is one of my all time favourites and I have been reading his work for a long time. My favourite book of Patterson’s being “when the wind blows”. James Patterson’s books are exceptionally well written and he makes the chapters of every book short and to the point. He has had a couple of his books made into films “Along Came a Spider” and “Kiss the Girls”. Both of these films were good but the books were fantastic. Patterson is a great writer.
10/10 for James Patterson
3) JK Rowling
I could read, re-read and re-read again al the Harry Potter books. They really are not just for children! She has a way of completely taking you into her world. No matters how far out the things are she explains them in a way that gives you vivid scenes in your imagination. Everyone should read at least one of these books in their life and I am sure once you have read one you will want t read the whole collection. Roll on the next book!
10/10 for JK Rowling
4) Enid Blyton – A true classic in Children’s writing and many of Enid Blytons book have taken me away to a far away special land and I am for that ever grateful. Blytons books were pretty much the first books I ever really read. Reading these books was years ago now but I can still remember so many great stories like they were etched in my head for eternity. The Far away Tree, Naughtiest Girl in the School, All the Famous Five books and so many more.
10/10 for Enid Blyton
5) Maggie Alderson
I am now reading my third Maggie Alderson book and I am enjoying it as much as the previous two I have read. The books are really easy to read and mainly about fashion and love. These books I find are the perfect read whilst sunbathing or on holiday. She takes you to her highly fashion conscious world with ease and the pages of every one of her books just fly past. I enjoy reading her style of writing and I can probably get through a book in a few days because I just can’t put it down.
10/10 for Maggie Alderson
6) Jane Green
Another Chick lit author really. Jane Greens books I find pretty light hearted and easy to read. Sometimes when I am really not in the mood for something heavy or something depressing I tend to pick up a Jane Green and just be truly entertained. Her writing style is super and really easy to fall into her way of writing. The characters she writes about are strong and she gives everything the right balance.
10/10 for Jane Green
7) Dan Brown
The Da Vinci Code was certainly not the best from Dan Brown and I have worked my way through his small collection of novels and found Angels and Demons to be the top pick from his collection. He writes so well that you are totally drawn into the lives of the people whom he writes about. Dan Brown’s books are truly page-turners and once started really cannot be put down. Digital fortress was another of my favourites from Mr Brown and I am sure he will continue to write fantastic books.
10/10 for Dan Brown
8) Celia A’Hurn
Celia has to date written three fantastic books and I am dying for her to hurry up and write some more. Her latest book was only released this year “If you could see me now” this was a great book but for me “PS I love you” has been her best to fate. With such original concepts for stories Celia is sure to do well. Ps I love you was a very heart warming story about a wife loosing her husband and the things he does to help her through – if you haven’t read it, I suggest you do so.
10/10 for Celia A’Hurn
9) Lynda La Plante
Another hard-hitting female writer. Unlike Martina Cole who really writes from the criminal’s perspective Lynda La Plante writes from the Police side of things. She goes into great detail about the important things, which really drags you into her way of thinking, which is truly amazing. I enjoy reading her books and am trying to work my way through her large collection.
10/10 for Lynda La Plante
10) Stephen King
Surely everyone has read a Stephen king book at some point in their life. All of Mr Kings books are so gripping it is hard to even see the light of day when I am engrossed into one of his novels. The book, which really does stand out the most for me, was “IT”. I read the book before watching the film and I think the book freaked me out far more than the film. Clowns are pretty scary on their one but in this story you cant get much worse. He style is easy to follow and all of his books I have read have really been good.

I'm in love...
new title there. Oh yeah, I'm in love. I've probably been struck by cupid.
Book cupid to be precise. Yep...I suddenly love to read novels. Whenever I think of reading a chapter or more of the current book I have, I get excited. Now, I can't wait to get hold of Sheldon's MNN.
Why only now, I'll only have a sem of free access to Ateneo books...that's why I have to get up from this chair and finish mnn tonight.
I'll leave the trivia for tomorrow.

probably wondering why the title's always like that. i just wanna make this quick but I end up writing longer notes.
had my french orals yesterday and damn, I sucked. Why did it have to be Ms! I'll thank her if she gives me a B for that. really..somehow.
I want to shoot some hoops today, but there's this P.E. volleyball finals, I'll still probably play after, if I can. I hope.
I had a pretty good sleep last night. Before I went to school, I was feeling light and pretty...=) even in baggy shirt and old denim pants and slippers as usual. I slept on Morning, noon and night, though the chapter was interesting, I had to get some sleep.
My mom's like Harry Stanford.

quickie again. [edited 10.07]
I crammed theo paper. 5 pages of semi nonsense phrases.wasted 2 days on blackout.
slacked off for 1 and 1/2 days. 3 1/2 days not spent on acads. 2 days were excusable.
I've been into reading detective novels lately. I really love reading. I wonder why my sister doesn't.
I've just read Kiss the girls by James Patterson. I read it for less than 2 days during the time of the blackout. A very interesting read. a bit scary and brutal, but a different one. It's about a psychomaniac women collector who "loves" women by kidnapping them and forcing them to do stuff...you know...a lot of twists and turns, suspense and love story, too! which I liked. need I say more? I read it for 2 days is enough already. The scariest part was when Kate was almost killed twice.
Pretty darn good. I'm onto reading Sidney Sheldon's Morning, noon and night now. all have murders.
I'll probably read a book every weekend from hereon. Nice idea and really excited about it.
Terms learned from Kiss the girls:
ORTHOSTATIC HYPOTENSION - it's the dizzy feeling you get when you get up fast from a bed or a chair.(I forgot the other one.Not anymore)
Mi casa su casa. – My home is your home. (I didn’t get it at the time but understood the meaning when it was mentioned in Veronica Mars. It still pays to watch TV.)

quickie
dozin' off
1._ _ _ Dead end, but appropriate.*
2.I don't regret quitting WBC. I'm better off. I made my first 3 pointer and very smooth lay ups. This team spells TEAM WORK boldly.
3. 4-0. 4 wins and no loss. We haven't met MEA though.
4. 1-3.WBC. I still wanted them to win even if they badly wished for our loss.
5. Game against WBC. I told my friend they have to win their last three games to make it. Oh, shoot! we're in one of those games.
6. I'm thinking of not playing coz,I have my teammates who can do it.Super reliable!
At the same time, I love playing basketball. but 70-30 or 80-20 % chance I might play.
my 1st entry in this new.
*Don't snap!
